Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, has died aged 83.
The singer died peacefully today after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
‘With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,’ her representatives said.
Tina, born Anna Mae Bullock, launched her career in the 60s and had timeless hits such as The Best, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What’s Love Got to Do With It. She won eight Grammy Awards.
Ms. Turner’s personal life was one of struggle and resilience. She divorced her abusive first husband Ike Tuner in 1978, and went on to find even greater success as a solo artist in the 1980s.
She is survived by two adult sons and her husband Erwin Bach. Two of her sons tragically preceded her in death.
