Letterkenny man John Logue has been appointed as the new CEO of Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland (SERI), a national representative body for social enterprises.

John brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held senior leadership positions in several well-known Irish non-profit organisations.

He served as CEO of Suas, an award-winning NGO, as CEO of USI, one of Ireland’s largest representative bodies, and as Head of Operations of Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC).

Additionally, he has advised over 40 social enterprises across Ireland on how to enhance their impact and financial sustainability.

John’s knowledge of social enterprise has also been recognised through his contributions to various initiatives. He has served as a member of ILDN’s Social Enterprise Working Group, authored a 3-year social enterprise policy for Donegal, and acted as a judge for Social Entrepreneurs Ireland’s Ideas Academy.

SERI Chairperson, Fergus Finlay, said: “As the new CEO of SERI, John is committed to leveraging his experiences to support the growth and development of social enterprises in Ireland. He understands the challenges and opportunities facing social enterprises in the country, particularly smaller organisations which make up the vast majority of social enterprises in Ireland.

“To best serve the sector, SERI must work in complete collaboration with social enterprise practitioners and other social enterprise support organisations. The Board of SERI is excited to welcome John to the team and looks forward to his leadership in driving the organisation’s mission of promoting and supporting social enterprise in Ireland.”

New SERI CEO, John Logue said: “I am honoured to be appointed as the new CEO of SERI and am eager to work alongside the team and our stakeholders to advance the social enterprise sector in Ireland. I believe social enterprises have an essential role to play in addressing some of Ireland’s most pressing social and environmental challenges, and I look forward to supporting their growth and impact.”
