Job Vacancies: Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager opportunities

JC Engineering, a metal fabrication company in Cloghan, Co Donegal is now hiring for two vacancies: 

Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities:

  • Compiling estimates to ensure that tenders and projects are  accurately costed 
  • Ensuring that tender and pricing documents are completed  and returned within a set time frame 
  • Analysing contracts and documentation, negotiation and  finalise orders 
  • Financial and commercial management of projects to final  account completion 
  • Site records and document control 
  • Preparation of forecasts, targets and cost valuations along  with reconciliation of valuations 
  • Prepare valuations with adequate records and details, agree  as works progress for interim project payments
  • Update projected final account, prepare and submit in a  timely manner

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication  skills 
  • Ability to effectively utilise a range of technology platforms 
  • Be fully conversant with the use of the standard method of  measurement 
  • Demonstrate ownership/commercial awareness 
  • Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal  and negotiation skills 
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role 
  • A third level qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management is desirable but not essential.

Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of all elements of the project
  • Manage project delivery 
  • Attend site meetings 
  • Implement project plan and report on the  progress weekly/monthly 
  • Measure project performance  
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation 
  • Work as a team to bring the project to successful completion 

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role 
  • Solid technical background, with understanding  or hands-on experience 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all project  parties 
  • Organisational skills including attention to detail  and multi-tasking skills 
  • A hands-on, can-do attitude with initiative to work well within a team 
  • Qualification is desirable, but not essential
