Steady progress is being made on the restoration of Community Hospital services to Lifford, the HSE has confirmed.
A full capital submission for a new building was submitted on 3rd May 2023.
The hospital is due to be built alongside a multi-million euro redevelopment of fields at Lifford Common. The 25-bed unit will be integrated with a new primary care centre on lands along the N14.
Councillor Gerry Crawford received an update from the HSE at yesterdays Regional Health West, at which he welcomed the commitment to the restoration of Community Hospital services in the Lifford catchment area.
“At many’s the meeting I have raised this issue, there was very little light at the end of the tunnel, but commitment and the will seems to be there and the need remains.”
Cllr Crawford thanked the people behind the project and added: “Vovid taught us all a very valuable lesson, nature is the boss and even with the best of efforts we need a facility like this.”
