Loreto Community School celebrate Leaving Cert graduation

Congratulations to the Leaving Cert Class of 2023 of Loreto Community School who enjoyed their graduation on Thursday the 25th May.

On Wednesday there was a soccer match between Kilmacrennan vs the Rest of the World. It was a very tight match throughout with Kilmac outperforming the Rest of the World 3-2 on penalties. Well done to both teams and their managers Mr. Ronan Mc Ginley and Mr. Evan Keown and to all the fantastic supporters (the Leaving Cert students). Mr. Butler acted as referee.

The students returned to school on Thursday for another day of celebration. The day began with the presentation of a cheque for €4, 067 to St.Luke’s Hospital, Dublin that the 6th years recently raised by doing a polar plunge in Portsalon.

This was followed by an Old School Sports Day concluding with an obstacle course between Loreto’s Fittest 6th years and Loreto’s Fittest Teachers . Unfortunately for the Leaving Certs, it was not their day and the teachers emerged victorious!

To cheer the students up, everyone was then treated to a well-deserved Irish breakfast, served by the canteen staff. It was then time for the special guest and the arrival of Tina Turner to perform her hits ‘Simply the Best and Rolling on the River’.

Further entertainment was provided by past pupils Shane McGinley and Darren Lynch and the students danced and sang until it was time to go home.

All students then returned to school that evening with their parents and family members to attend the Leaving Cert Mass. After a beautiful ceremony, each student (to their surprise) received a gift bag and it contained letters from their parents and primary school teachers, gifts from their school mentor, etc.

As the sun was setting over Mulroy Bay and with the beautiful sun rays shining throughout the school corridors, the parents and teachers went home while the students continued their celebrations in Letterkenny.

The school would like to thank the Leaving Cert students for their impeccable behaviour during the celebrations and wish them all the best with their studies over the next two week and best of luck in their Leaving Cert exams.
