Cemetery Sunday moved to avoid Donegal v Derry clash

The Stranorlar Blessing of the Graves has been put back a day in order to avoid a clash with Sunday’s championship match between Donegal and Derry in MacCumhaill Park.

The blessing will now take place on Bank Holiday Monday (June 5th) at 5pm in Drumboe Cemetery and at 6:30pm in Stranorlar (Chapel Street) Cemetery.

“It was decided that it would be best to rearrange the blessings until the next day as there would be traffic chaos,” a spokesperson for the Church of Mary Immaculate in Stranorlar said.

“Again, we reiterate and ask if there is anyone willing to volunteer to help with the car parking at Drumboe Cemetery. Due to the huge crowds, which are increasing each year and the advancing years of our faithful helpers, new assistance is required. Please speak to either Fr. Kieran or Fr. Anthony directly or contact the Graveyard Committee at 0868048948 or private message the Stranorlar R.C Parish – Church of Mary Immaculate Facebook page.
