Donegal County Council recorded income of €1.16million in parking charges, fines and court payments last year, new figures show.
The majority of the payments (€788,379) came from Pay and Display parking meters, while the new eParking App generated over €110,000.
Over €222,000 was paid to the council in parking fines and court payments last year.
Parking charges are enforced for on-street and off-street spaces in five towns – Buncrana, Ballybofey/Stranorlar, Bundoran, Letterkenny and Donegal Town. Chargers were lifted in Ballyshannon in 2019.
The latest data was provided to East Donegal Cllr Gary Doherty at Monday’s Plenary Meeting of Donegal County Council. Cllr Doherty also asked about free grace periods for on-street parking in towns, to which the council said that Buncrana and Letterkenny are the only towns to allow 30 minutes free on-street parking,
