The €250,000 lotto prize sold in a Moville shop last week may have been bought by a syndicate of teachers.
Rumours are rife in that a small group of teachers are behind the lotto win.
It is believed the teachers may be from a different town in Inishowen and only realised their numbers had come up earlier this week.
The National Lottery has confirmed the winner has come forward and arrangements are now being made for them to claim their prize.
The residents of Moville began wondering who the winner was after the exciting news that a local had scoped the €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 top prize in last night’s Wednesday night’s Lotto draw.
The wining ticket was sold in Doherty’s Centra in the town.
Owner of the winning store, Gerry Doherty was in a celebratory mood when he got word of his store’s big win on Saturday night.
“Genuinely, we are all delighted up here knowing that one of our customers has won this prize,” he said.
“The store and the whole town has been buzzing this weekend with the incredible weather and we’re absolutely made up that this customer is now a quarter of a million euro richer. I am lucky to have such an amazing group of staff in the store so I’ll be putting my own lottery bonus payment towards a nice staff party and we too can celebrate our customer’s good fortune.”
