The Letterkenny and District Gaelic League had a Blitz in Glenswilly recently with almost 300 students taking part.
The array of talent, teamwork and endeavour on show was amazing. Most importantly, the children had fun.
The great weather also helped ensure there was a feast of football. The league has been very lucky over the past few years with having great sponsorship from Kevin Gallinagh of Letterkenny Tool Hire at the Mountain Top.
The success of the league is down to a hard working committee in particular Ciaran Gallagher, Rory Kavanagh and Paddy Mc Fadden. A special thanks must be given to the Glenswilly Club for the use of their fantastic facilities. Schools were playing for the Elaine Winston Friel and Susan Carr Memorial Cups.
Out of the 16 boys and girls teams taking part in the Girls section of the shield Drumkeen N.S were victorious, and in the Cup, Termon N.S came out on top.
In the Boy’s section Convoy N.S won the shield and Glenswilly N.S won the cup after a highly entertaining match against Scoil Colmcille Letterkenny.
The District League will continue with its work in September with the indoor competitions.
