Inishowen community groups invited to event planning masterclass

Community groups and organisations in Inishowen are once again being invited to join an event planning masterclass with one of the leading event planners in the country.

Inishowen Development Partnership are holding the half day workshop in Ballyliffin Lodge Hotel on Tuesday, June 13, following the success of last year’s event planning masterclass on zoom with leading event planning expert Colm Croffy.

Mr Croffy, who is the executive director of the Association of Irish Festivals and Events (AOIFE), has spent over 30 years working in events and festival management for both professional and community run events.

During the four hour masterclass Colm will cover all the basics and essentials of event planning including how to attract volunteers, marketing, budgeting, how to reach your target audience and much more.

Project Development Officer with IDP Tracey McRory said Inishowen Development Partnership are delighted to be welcoming Colm back to Inishowen in person and are looking forward to learning from him in their own event planning.

“The feedback we received from the groups and individuals who took part in last year’s online workshop was so good we had to welcome Colm back again and we are delighted to be able to hold it in person,” said Tracey.

“This will not only give people the chance to learn directly from Colm directly it will also give the opportunity to have some one –to– one time with him or ask him questions.

“Throughout his 30 plus years in event planning Colm has saw it all. There is no event too small or too big for him – he is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to events – how to market them how to attract an audience how to budget for them and how to attract people to help you – you name it he has been through it all,” added Tracey.

A number of local groups have already signed up to the masterclass – including groups who took part in the first online workshop last September. However there is still time for other people to join in and it is open to everyone who needs a bit of assistance planning events.

The course gets underway in the Ballyliffin Lodge with registration at 9.30am on Tuesday June 13 and will conclude at 2pm. Booking costs €10 per community group or €5 for any individual who would like to come along. Lunch is also included in this price.

To book your spot now – or to find out more information – email tracey@inishowen.ie or call IDP in the Buncrana Office on 074 93-62218.
