A daring Donegal man has raised thousands for rescue services by completing a gruelling one-day challenge.
John McGee conquered the 233km challenge on Saturday to raise funds for three voluntary groups who helped during last October’s Creeslough tragedy.
The Ironday was the ultimate test of physical and mental endurance, but John pushed through and successfully crossed the finish line in his hometown just after sunset.
The challenge involved a 3.4km swim from Ards to Downings, a 187km cycle to Errigal car park at Dunlewy and finishing with a 42.2km run that will start with climbing Errigal.
So far John has raised over €4,000 online, and you can still donate at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ironday-challenge
Funds will be shared equally between Critical, Donegal Mountain Rescue Team and Search And Rescue Dogs Association.
