Glenswilly kept their 100% record in the league intact with this hard-earned four point victory over Dungloe at Pairc Naomh Columba in perfect conditions for a large crowd if somewhat warm for the players.

Michael Murphy 0-06, Caoimhin Marley 0-04 and team captain Cormac Callaghan 0-02 did the bulk of the scoring for the Glen men but this was a real team effort against an excellent Dungloe team who made the home side work very hard for this victory.

Dungloe got off to a flying start with two Ryan Greene points from frees and one from play by Daire Gallagher to lead by 0-03.

Michael Murphy replied from a free but Oisin Bonner’s free restored the three point advantage from a free. Murphy again replied from a mark, but Daire Gallagher kicked his second from play as Dungloe had the better of the lively opening ten minutes.

Two excellent scores from play by Cormac Callaghan and Caoimhin Marley left just a point between them, 0-04 to 0-05.

Ryan Conners converted another Dungloe free but Christopher McMonagle and Marley responded quickly for the home team to level the game up for the first time at 0-06 apiece in the 24th minute.

Barry Curran kicked a super score from near the touchline for Dungloe to lead again but Michael Murphy sent them to the break on level terms with another point from a mark, 0-07 apiece.

Dungloe started the second-half as they had the first with fine points from Conor O Donnell and Daire Gallagher’s third point.

Michael Murphy leveled it with two quick points, one from play and then Jack Gallagher gave Glenswilly the lead for the first time with an excellent point from play, 0-10 to 0-09.

Cormac Callaghan added his second and Glenswilly 11th point to make it a two point game and then Murphy from a free added his sixth point to leave the home team three ahead and looking good for an eighth win in a row.

Ryan Conners’ second point left just two in but with Michael Murphy retreating to a defensive role for the latter stages Dungloe failed to score again while Caoimhin Marley topped off another impressive midfield performance by adding his third and fourth points of the game to give Glens victory to four, 0-14 to 0-07 and still top of a very competitive Division Two of the All County Leagues.

There were wins also for Naomh Columba, Termon, Fanad Gaels and Ardara in the other Division Two games this weekend.
