Thousands have gathered in Finglas in Dublin this morning for the funeral procession of Aslan frontman Christy Dignam.
A large screen and speakers have been erected outside Erin’s Isle GAA Club and the area has been decorated with red balloons and ribbons as thousands gather to pay their respects to the local musician who died earlier this week.
Fans wearing Aslan t-shirts lined the barriers that have been put in place along the funeral procession route.

At around 9:30am the procession arrived in Finglas. It began at Dignam’s home, off Cardiffsbridge Road and continued along to his former school, St Fergal’s Boys National School, before arriving at Erin’s Isle GAA Club.
There, a video and music tribute was played for the family and fans before they proceed to a private ceremony.
Dignam, who was 63, died on Tuesday following a long illness.
In a post on social media, his daughter Kiera confirmed her father’s passing, and said; “On behalf of my family, it is with a broken heart that we convey the news of my father’s passing, Christy Dignam.
“Dad peacefully left us where he wanted to, at home today 4pm Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, after a courageously long-fought battle, surrounded by his family.”
