Donegal people are being urged to apply for tickets for the annual National Day of Commemoration Ceremony to honour Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations.
The event is open to members of the public and takes place at Collins Barracks in Cork on Sunday, July 9 at 2pm.
Donegal people interested in attending the event are asked to email ndocinvitation@taoiseach.gov.ie to request a ticket by Wednesday, July 6, 2023.
The President, the Taoiseach, members of the Government, the Council of State, Dáil and Seanad Éireann, Diplomatic Corps, Judiciary and Northern Ireland representatives will attend the Commemoration.
The Band 1 Brigade, conducted by Captain Ben Jacob, will accompany soloist Gemma Ní Bhriain.
Representatives of the next-of-kin of those who died in past wars or on UN service, ex-servicemen’s organisations, as well as relatives of the 1916 Leaders, have also been invited.
The ceremony includes a service by Faith, Belief and Broader Communities, followed by a wreath laying by the President on behalf of the people of Ireland.
The ceremony will conclude with an Air Corps flypast.
