Another busy week at Cloughaneely Golf Club

Cloughaneely Golf Club hosted Bridie Doherty’s Lady Captain’s last weekend with a new mixed foresomes competition that attracted a lot of support.

Scramble on Friday went very well and the main competition on Saturday was a huge success.

Lady Captain’s Prize to Ladies 1st: Roisin McGee (35) 46pts; 2nd: Breda McGeady (50) 35pts BOT; 3rd: Kathleen Rodgers (15) 35pts; 4th: Chris Cannon (51) 30pts; F9: Anne-Marie Begley (33) 16pts; B9: Noreen O’Grady (51) 16pts; Nearest Pin: Kathleen Rodgers; Long Drive: Kathleen Rodgers.

The Lady Captains Prize to Gents was played last Saturday. 1st: Brian Geaney (10) 39pts BOT; 2nd: Dennis Sale (29) 39pts; Gross: Chris McCallion (7) 30pts; 3rd: Darragh Geaney (13) 38pts; 4th: Noel Ó’Gallchóir (29) 36pts; F9: Gerry Doohan (11) 20pts; B9: Vincent Collum (23) 35pts; Nearest Pin: Charlie Roarty Jnr; Long Drive: Micheal McHugh; Junior: Donnachadh Boyle.

The club had a large turnout for the 9 Hole Scramble on Friday evening. 1st: Paul Doherty, Shane McClafferty, Sean McFadden & Fiona Doherty – 26.2; 2nd: Bridie Doherty, Joe Doherty, Chris McCallion, Brian Cannon & Michael Gallagher – 26.4; 3rd: Sean MacIntyre, Stephen McCafferty, James Collum & Roisin McGee – 26.8.

The new Mixed Foresomes on Thursday 22nd June was a huge success. 1st: Brian & Caroline McGee – 59; 2nd: Philip & Breda McGeady – 63; Gross: Mark McGinley & Kathleen Rodgers – 80; 3rd: Paul & Bridie Doherty – 65.5.

A special thanks was given to Lady Captain Bridie and all the Doherty family for organising an excellent few days at the club.

The Cloughaneely Golf Club 2023 Open Week runs from Friday 7th to Sunday 16th July all details in the whatsapp group, on facebook and on our website. Our Annual Club Classic is pencilled in for Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September. A number of New Members have joined the golf club recently it is great to see golfers out and enjoying their golf.

All golfers are being asked to repair pitch marks and to book on the clubnet app.

The 2023 Membership rates can be found on the website the club thank all Club Members for joining recently.
