Hikers have been asked to stay away from Errigal mountain today in the interest of safety.
A helicopter is in operation in the area as work takes place to extend the climbers’ path.
It is not safe to walk under the helicopter while it is transporting heavy materials.
Works are taking place from 5-7th July, but may run beyond this date.
“The mountain habitat is recovering well since the new path was constructed and it would be a pity to see it trampled again. We would appreciate your cooperation over the next few days,” said a public notice.
Donegal Mountain Rescue volunteers are also advising people to stay away to avoid any danger that these works may impose to the public.
