Gardai are investigating an attempted theft from a car that occurred in the Ard Crana area of Buncrana in the early hours of Wednesday the 5th of July shortly before 2am.

A resident in that area heard a car horn sound and looked out to see a man in a driveway of a house.

This man had a hood up covering his head and quickly fled the scene.

Gardai are interested in any sightings of a silver Volvo jeep in that area around that time which they believe was connected to the theft of an Audi A4.

The car that was parked in the driveway in question had been unlocked. The man had opened the glovebox but nothing had been stolen from within.

A Garda spokesperson said “We appeal to anybody who may have observed any suspicious activity in that area on the date/time given to contact Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540. If anybody travelled in that area or in the Buncrana area in general in the early hours of Wednesday the 5th of July who had a dash cam, we ask them to make the footage available to Gardaí.”
