A man is to appear in court later today in relation to an alleged serious assault on Sliabh Liag.
The man, who is in his thirties, was arrested yesterday as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged assault that reportedly took place in the Sliabh Liag/Killybegs area between Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25.
Gardai confirmed this morning that the man has been charged.
He is due to appear before a special sitting of Ballyshannon District court at 4:00pm this afternoon.
The body of a man in his 60s was found on July 3 following an extensive search of the area for a number of days before.
It followed claims that a man had been seriously assaulted and his remains dumped at the popular tourist destination.
The victim is thought to be Robert Wilkin, aged in his mid-60s and from Northern Ireland, who is reported missing and is known to police.
Gardai swooped on an address in Letterkenny early yesterday morning and arrested a man before taking him to Ballyshannon Garda Station for questioning.
The suspect is believed to be one of two people who were previously arrested but realised without charge in connection with the alleged incident.
