The funeral for Michael Jim Quinn, of Rossbracken Letterkenny and formerly of Backhill Buncrana, will take place this Wednesday, July 19th.

Mr Quinn passed away following a road accident in Tooban on Friday evening.

He has been remembered as a stalwart of the community and one of Donegal’s great characters.

His caring work as a suicide prevention counsellor helped countless people in distress.

On the other hand, he was a fantastic storyteller who loved to make people laugh. Local fairs and fundraisers were made all the more special with Jim’s talent for palm reading and great community spirit.

He was also a dedicated Irish Republican who canvassed passionately for Sinn Féin.

Deputy Padraig Mac Lochlainn paid tribute to his good friend this weekend and said: “Jim was one of the truly great characters of Donegal and a proud and dedicated Irish Republican like his father Jimmy Quinn before him.

“He was known and loved, far and wide, from managing local football teams, to his famous palm reading sessions, to helping so many people in distress, and for his faith in Padre Pio.”

Funeral Details as follows:

Jim’s remains will leave Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Letterkenny today at 4pm going to his late residence in Rossbracken F92 K09X to repose overnight.

Leaving there on Tuesday at 2pm going to The Quinn Family Home, Backhill, Meenagorey, Buncrana F93 W8K1 to repose overnight.

Funeral from there on Wednesday morning at 10am going to St Mary’s Church, Cockhill for requiem Mass at 11am.

Jim’s remains will then leave Porter Funeral Home Meenagorey at 1.30 on Wednesday going to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan for cremation.

May Jim Rest in Peace.
