A Donegal County Councillor has said that young people who cannot build near the N56 road are choosing to emigrate to find housing.
A meeting will take place this morning to discuss the National Policy which restricts access onto the National Secondary Route N56
The road runs from Donegal Town clockwise to Letterkenny, passing through areas including Mountcharles, Ardara, Glenties, Dungloe, Falcarragh, Dunfanaghy, Creeslough and Kilmacrennan.
The challenges of access to the road will be heard by five TDs this morning at a meeting in the County House in Lifford.
Cllr McClafferty said it is a serious matter which he hopes that Deputies will “raise to the roof in the Dáil as a collective for our County of Donegal”.
“Where simply so many young people mainly in Donegal can not get access on to the N56, forcing immigration to far of countries through no fault of there own,” Cllr McClafferty said.
“Everybody deserves a roof over their head or at least a site to try and build on, when possible.”
