Sadness at passing of former Highland Radio presenter Danny Sharkey

Former Highland Radio presenter Danny Sharkey has passed away.

Mr Sharkey, of Elaghbeg, Burnfoot, was also the former Principal of St Aengus’ N.S., Bridgend.

Through his interviews on the airwaves and his work in education, he was well-known across many communities.

He sadly passed at his residence on Monday 17th July.

Predeceased by his wife Máire, his daughter Máire and his brother John Patrick. Much loved father of Donal, Patrick and John and dear brother-in-law of Breege Hampson. Deeply regretted by his loving sons, grandchildren, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, his wider family circle and many friends.

Funeral Details: 

Reposing at Murphy’s Funeral Home (F93 PW96) on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th July from 4.00pm to 10.00pm and on Friday 21st July from 3.00pm to 6.00pm with removal at 6.00pm to St Aengus’ Church, Burt to repose overnight. Requiem Mass Saturday morning 22nd July at 11.00am followed by interment in Burt Cemetery.
