Amber’s mass-ive performance – even before she sinks the Australians!

Parishioners in Milford certainly couldn’t be accused of forgetting about their local hero Amber Barrett.

Mass has been rescheduled locally tomorrow morning so that parishioners can cheer on Amber and the Girls in Green against World Cup co-hosts Australia.

Ireland start their tournament bow in front of 82,000 fans in Sydney at 11am Irish time, 8pm local time.

And local priest, Fr Stephen Gorman, has ensured everyone can watch the action.

He gave the flame-haired striker a shout-out at mass last weekend and assured Amber the whole parish was behind her.

Amber revealed: “My mum was saying I have a shout-out at Mass, so I think I have officially made it.”

The 27-year-old, who recently moved to Belgian giants Standard Liege, added that she was hoping for some divine intervention tomorrow.

“They have moved Mass earlier on Thursday, so they can accommodate the 11am kick-off, so that says it all – so hopefully Jesus does us a wee favour on Thursday night,” she said.

Barrett’s dad and brother are both in Sydney for the big game, while friends and cousins have also made the trip Down Under to support Vera Pauw’s side.

Barrett is ready to ruin Australia’s big night tomorrow – and she reckons the timing of the game could be key.

“I think if you look back on the Euros, the most difficult game for England was the game against Austria in Old Trafford, first game, host nation, all the pressure on it,” she said.

“We are going to do our best to spoil the party on Thursday night.”

As for the belief within the squad, she added: “I think you have to (be confident of progressing to the last-16).
