A kind-hearted Donegal family has been praised for a generous donation to the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

William Tinney and his family, from Raphoe held a number of successful fundraisers, including a charity night, which raised £8,000 (approx €9,200).

William, his wife Mary, sons Gavin and Liam and daughter Sandra recently presented the proceeds to Professor Stewart, Consultant Oncologist and Tracey Mears, Radiotherapy Nurse Specialist.

A spokesperson for the Western Trust said: “On behalf of the North West Cancer we would like to pass on a huge thank you to all who kindly donated and supported the Tinney Family’s fundraising efforts, including the charity night that was held. It is very much appreciated by staff, patients and relatives and will go towards patients comfort funds in the North West Cancer Centre.”
