Vacancy: Smyths Daleside require Quality Control Technician

We now invite applications for the following permanent position at our Ballindrait mill:

Quality Control Technician Job Ref No: SD/QCT/07/23

The Role:

To maintain and implement procedures so that feed technical and quality standards are compliant with required codes of practice.

• Day-to-day running of the QC function to ensure compliance with feed quality and safety standards;
• Daily tasks include NIR analysis of raw materials and finished feed; product durability testing; completing quality checks; ensuring production records have been correctly completed; analysing and reporting of laboratory test results; training other staff in quality procedures;
• Conduct audits and process reviews in line with established schedules and procedures;
• Manage and develop the existing HACCP system in line with legislative requirements;
• Investigate customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are put in place;
• Prepare for and facilitate independent site audits including UFAS, Tesco and Bord Bia. The Person:
• Possess/working towards a third level degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Quality Management, Agriculture, or a similar relevant discipline;
• A motivated, methodical, reliable person who can demonstrate good attention to detail, work on your own initiative and be able to communicate clearly with others;
• You will have an excellent standard of IT literacy;
• Ideally you will have previous experience working within a busy production environment in a QC role or a
similar, related discipline;
• Ideally you will have previous experience of auditing and corrective action reporting;
• Ideally you will have knowledge of HACCP, quality management systems and codes of practice such as UFAS.
