A body has been recovered in a remote lake in Fanad.

It follows the search for a man from Galway who was visiting the area with friends and went missing.

The man’s friends had issued an appeal for help.

In the past couple of days dozens of people from the local community have been searching for the missing man named as Greg King.

Mr King had been last seen in Fanad at midnight on Sunday.

A vigil for the missing man was held at 6pm at Fanavolty Church last night.

However, at around 11pm the body of a man was taken from Kinnaloch.

A Garda spokesperson said their investigations are ongoing.
