Dunkineely/Bruckless/Killaghtee Community Notes are out

The community notes for the Dunkineely/Bruckless/Killaghtee area are out now.

Signs

In the last week, seven of twelve display stands have appeared around the area. These displays, made from recycled plastic, will display new heritage signs at key points of interest. These include McSwyne’s Castle, Bruckless Park, the Holy Well and much more.

Led by Dunkineely Community Ltd, this has been made possible through a minor tourism grant from Donegal County Council. However, this would never happen without support from the local community. Land owners gave
their permission for the signs, Donegal Hardware and McGuinness & Son Topline both donated concrete and then we have the volunteers who put them in.

Huge thanks to Barry Boyle, Manus Boyle, Stephen McMenamin and Paul Kelly. With Janet Deane giving orders and Kathleen Breslin providing tea! Next, text will be finalised, with the amazing support of archaeologist Kate Robb at Donegal
County Council, then send these off for translation by yet more volunteers. The design of the signs, by volunteer, local designer Kim Pereira, has also been agreed.

Sponsors needed

Would your company like to be part of the Killaghtee Festival? The Killaghtee festival is entirely funded by sponsorship, donations and grants. If you would like your company to be part of this great event, then contact dunkineelycommunity@gmail.com.

As always, they are also looking for volunteers to help out on the day. Want to find out more? The next open Festival meeting is on 27th July at 7pm in Mac’s Bar.

Samara’s Wheelie Good Coffee has had to close until further notice due to a broken wrist. We wish Samara a speedy recovery and can’t wait to get back to coffee, cake and soup!
