Singer Sinéad O’Connor was found unresponsive at her home in London yesterday morning and pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement from UK police, they said that the 56-year-old’s next of kin were notified, and that her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The Metropolitan Police said that officers were called shortly before noon yesterday following reports of an unresponsive woman at a residential address in the southeast of the city.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

Sinéad O’Connor’s family announced her death in a statement yesterday.

They said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

Tributes have been pouring in ever since for the singer, who has been described as having “the greatest voice of her generation”.
