A motorcyclist has been arrested after a terrifying attack against a female driver in July.

The incident took place in Buncrana at the beginning of last month, where an irate man on a motorbike punched a car and proceeded to follow it for several kilometres.

Gardaí have confirmed today that, following a public appeal, a suspect has been arrested.

The frightening incident was reported on Sunday 9th July.

A female driver was parked at traffic lights at Aileach Road in Buncrana in broad daylight when she was set upon by the irate motorcyclist who had pulled up beside her.

The man began revving his engine loudly and then began to shout at the woman.

The incident turned worse when the motorcyclist began to punch the driver’s window repeatedly.

The driver drove onwards onto the Cockhill Road in a bid to get away from the motorcyclist.

However, he followed her and continued to shout at the woman and punch her car as he drove alongside her as the woman drove in the direction of Carndonagh.

The woman then decided to stop the car at Umricam hoping her ordeal would end.

However, the motorcyclist then bent the wing mirror on the car before travelling onwards in the Carndonagh direction.

Gardaí have thanked members of the public who assisted with their investigations in recent weeks.
