Donegal County Council has refused planning permission for a new glamping site in Newtowncunningham.
Bogay Glamping had sought permission for six ‘pods’, a toilet and shower facility and renovations to an existing shed for a kitchen and common area at Bogay Glebe.
There were objections for two local residents.
Planners refused the application on a number of grounds. They said the proposed development was not within safe walking distance of local services and facilities and provides for an ‘ad hoc and unsustainable’ form of development in a rural location. They also found that the development would create a noise nuisance for local residents and that it lacked an Architectural Heritage Impact Assessment as the proposed site was within a protected structure.
