Visiter left outraged at rubbish dumping in Carrickfin

A visiter to West Donegal has expressed their outrage at dumping in the Carrickfin area.

The woman was out walking when she found several bags of rubbish dumped on sand dunes near the airport at Donegal Airport.

The woman said the dumping is such a bad advert for people flying into the area and has contacted both local councillors and the airport about the issue.

She told Donegal Daily “I was in Donegal lately and went for a walk in Carrickfin down near the large sand dune at the side of the runway to the airport.

“I was so shocked to see that someone who had camped there had left all their rubbish at the back of the dune.

“Carrickfinn has been classed as the nicest Airport to fly into in the world but it will not keep this accolade if this keeps happening.

“I took a friend last Tuesday to see the area and the rubbish is still there. Another caravan seems to have tidied the rubbish into 3 bags but they were still lying there by the rocks.”

The woman added “People come into this area because it’s so beautiful and should leave it that way. Not sure what can be done but feel it was my duty to report this annoying act.”
