Fr Shaun Doherty to celebrate first Mass in Letterkennny tonight

Newly-ordained priest Fr Shaun Doherty will celebrate Mass in St. Eunan’s Cathedral Letterkenny for the first time tonight.

Fr Doherty, who was ordained into the priesthood in Derry in July, is visiting Letterkenny for the Vigil Mass of the Feast of of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Mass will be celebrated at 7pm, after which Fr Doherty will give his First Blessing and greet parishioners.

Large numbers are expected at the Mass. Some refreshments are being arranged for afterwards as people wait to greet Fr Doherty.

People are advised to park at the Hugh Duffy Car Park, opposite Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, the Cathedral Car Parks and the Car Park behind the Cathedral.
