The famous Dingle races is known as the Cheltenham of horse and pony racing and the the likes of Dylan Browne Mc Monagle Oisin Orr and Luke Mc Ateer are just a few names to mention that rode lots of winners at the Kerry track.

Another young local man now that we can add to that folklore is Ballyare rider Patrick Mc Gettigan.

Patrick rode his first Dingle winner on board Cali Cartel in the 15 hands on Sunday last to huge celebrations from the bumper crowd who enjoyed some top class racing.

Mc Gettigan topped off his weekend when getting a great spin out of King Of The Hill in the Dingle Derby to eventually finish third after leading for a long in the prestigious race behind the high class Caro Quintero.

All roads lead to Co Mayo this Sunday for the Gweesala races starting at 1pm.
