The Rescue 118 helicopter responded to a mayday call yesterday after a boat sank near Portstewart.
Three people were saved from the water during the dramatic event.
The Sligo Rescue 118 was already en route to another tasking when it responded to the call from the Belfast Coastguard.
RNLI Portrush, along with two other vessels, also immediately responded to the call and began searching the area.
The rescue teams worked tirelessly to locate and rescue the survivors from the sinking vessel.
Rescue 118 remained on the scene until they confirmed that no one else was in need of assistance. The survivors were taken to safety, and their condition is currently unknown.
Following the successful rescue mission, Rescue 118 called into City of Derry Airport for fuel and were looked after.
All rescue services involved have been commended for their quick actions and efficient coordination, which led to three lives being saved.
