The countdown is on for a massive raffle in Buncrana, where up to €7,000 in prizes are up for grabs!
The fundraiser is part of the ‘Fun For All’ campaign to provide accessible play facilities in the Festival Park.
The campaign is being led by the Friel family in memory of their brother Gareth, who passed away on July 31st last year at the age of 38. One of the things Gareth got great pleasure from in life was using a swing.
Fun For All started as a family goal to walk from Malin Head to Buncrana to raise €20,000, but it quickly took legs of its own and was embraced by the people of Buncrana.
The initial target has been reached, ensuring that a wheelchair ability swing, a bird’s nest swing and a wheelchair accessible picnic bench will be bought to benefit other families living in and visiting the area. The result has been hailed as an overall community achievement.
The campaign continues this weekend with the Fun for All raffle which has been generously supported by a long list of local businesses. The money raised from this will purchase sensory toys/equipment for children to enjoy.
Coreen Robinson, Gareth’s sister, said: “On behalf of the Friel family, I wish to thank every single person who helped in any way as you have all made a positive difference in the lives of our children and have ensured Fun For All is now a reality.
“We will never forget your kindness and generosity of spirit.”
The Fun For Al raffle will take place at a coffee morning in O Flaherty’s Bar Buncrana on Friday 25th August (11am -2pm). Tickets are €5 and are available at Mac’s Newagents Buncrana until Wednesday 23rd or by clicking the link: Fun For All Raffle
