A major hotel in Letterkenny is planning to take in up to 175 refugees in the coming weeks.
A spokesperson for the Department of Integration confirmed the 120-bedroom Clanree Hotel will start providing accommodation in two phases from September 1st. They also confirmed the refugees will all be Ukrainian, beneficiaries of temporary protection.
The Clanree is part of the McGettigan Group which last year closed McGettigan’s Hotel in the town centre to house refugees.
In March, 2022, the hotel told potential customers it was cancelling bookings in order to free up space for Ukrainians. The 82-room establishment could accommodate up to 200 people.
