There was a clear sense of happiness, celebration and relief among the leavers’ of the Royal and Prior on Friday as they discovered the results of their efforts in this year’s Leaving Certificate Results.
Many of the students have secured enough points to enrol in their first preference courses at universities and colleges on both sides of the border.

In commending the pupils the, Principal, Howard Welch remarked, “These achievements are recognition to the young people themselves who have studied hard and accomplished a wonderful set of results. It is also an acknowledgement of the professionalism and dedication of the staff of the Royal and clear evidence of all the encouragement, support and love provided by parents, friends and relatives during their time in Raphoe.”

Dr Welch continued, “It’s most important to remember that these students continue to endure the effects of the pandemic upon their education. For many this year’s Leaving Certificate was their first experience of state examinations and to see how they have succeed is a wonderful testament to their resilience and spirit. These excellent set of results will enable the class of 2023 to continue their educational journeys whether that be beginning an apprenticeship, university, agricultural college or taking a year out”
“On behalf of everyone at the Royal I want to thank our leavers for the superb contribution they have made to the life of this school and we can’t wait to hear about where their outstanding potential takes them next.”
