Friday was a busy morning in Loreto Community School with students and their parents invited to the school for tea and cake after they had accessed their results online.

The atmosphere was one of jubilation and celebration tinged with some relief after a long wait.

The vast majority of students reported being happy with their results and are looking forward to the next stage of their journey in the coming weeks. It was an opportunity to get together as a year group, celebrate their results with their teachers and Year Head and walk the corridors of Loreto, Milford one last time. The celebration cake was cut by Head girl Emily Irwin and Head boy Óisin Kelly amid rapturous applauds by parents and teachers for the class of 2023.

A school spokesperson said: “The focus on results at this time can be arduous and at Loreto, Milford we are happy when a student has reached his /her potential whatever that might be. And whilst we had two students who achieved over 600 points and a significant number of others who exceeded the 550 and 500 points threshold, our joy today is as strong for the student who worked hard to get the 05 as is for the student who got the H1. We pride ourselves in providing a holistic education where the other facets of the student are nurtured and given room for expression as well as the academic.

“As always, there are a few students who are disappointed and they are supported by the Guidance team in looking at alternative routes to get to their destination.

“The class of 2023 were a particularly lovely group of students, who gelled together wonderfully as a unit and contributed so much to the school over their time here and we as a staff wish them continued success, contentment and safety in the next chapter of their lives.”
