Tory was truly alive with the sound of music last weekend when one of Ireland’s most renowned singers tied the knot with a local lady.

Known for his distinctive sean-nós-style voice, Galway man Seán Keane married local woman, Ann Doohan, on her native island. The daughter of Jimmy and Teresa Doohan, Ann is also his backing singer.

“Some of you may have heard already, but last weekend I got married to my beautiful wife Ann surrounded by family and friends on Tory Island,” he announced on his Facebook page.

“It was a day beyond expectations, absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Thank you to all who worked tirelessly in the run up to it, and over the weekend, to make it all possible.”

The nuptials took place in Séipéal Naofa Cholmcille last Saturday and the honours were performed by local priest, Fr Donnchadh O’Baoill. In what was described as a relatively ‘low-key’ wedding, the reception was held in the Tory Island Hotel and the new couple danced, and sang, the rest of the night away with family and friends in the nearby An Club.
