As gardaí appeal to drivers to slow down and save lives, one driver in Letterkenny was clocked speeding at 160kmh in a 100kmh zone last night.
The driver was halted and arrested by the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit. They will appear in court at a later date.
Gardaí issued a number of fines in the Letterkenny area on Friday night during a speed check operation.
“Speed kills. Slow down,” a spokesperson said.
This year, there have been 126 fatalities on Irish roads. One in 3 of these fatalities has been a young person under the age of 25.
Road fatalities for 2023 to date have seen an increase of 24 deaths when compared to the same period for 2022.
