The Busy Bee cafe in Ballybofey is set to close after just five months in business.

The cafe, located at the car park on Lower Main Street, opened in April 2023 by mother and daughter team Abbie and Wendy Long.

However, they said that rising costs, from VAT to electricity to gas, have made it impossible to remain open.

The cafe will close for the final time on Friday 8th September. Customers are asked to use their outstanding vouchers before this date.

In a statement, Abbie and Wendy wrote: “We want to thank our wonderful customers, many of whom we have gotten to know well over the past year – we thank you for your support and custom. We shall miss the catch-ups and the smiling faces!

“Also, a special word of thanks to our dedicated staff! We have built up a brilliant wee team, with each one of them willing to go that extra mile for us. We will take away lasting friendships and memories of good times!

“We will close at 4pm every day this week, with our doors closing for the final time on Fri. 8th Sept. For anyone with outstanding vouchers, please call in before Friday and use them up.

“With every door closing, a new one opens – so here’s to the next chapter!”
