Donegal left behind on infrastructure and connectivity – Sinn Fein

Donegal Sinn Féin have today announced that their party Spokesperson on Communications and Transport, Deputy Martin Kenny, will visit the Donegal Constituency tomorrow.

Deputy Kenny will visit the county for a series of meetings regarding transport projects in the county.

Speaking today, Deputy said “Donegal is a county that has been left behind regarding infrastructure and connectivity.

“Due to partition and being cut off from its natural hinterland, the county has a long history of being ignored when it comes to connecting the region to the rest of the country.

“The infrastructure projects that are planned for the county and the North West are absolutely essential for the unlocking of the potential of the North West.

“They are particularly important also given the recent road tragedies that this country has experienced. It brings to the fore again the need for good roads and good transport links. Donegal has, of course, had its share of road tragedies in the past.

“I’m visiting the region tomorrow to receive an update from the NRDO and Donegal County Council regarding the important Ten T Projects and then I’ll be meeting with Donegal Rail Campaigners to discuss the All-Island Strategic Rail Review.

“More needs to be done to ensure Donegal has the same access to good transport links as there is elsewhere in the county and Sinn Féin are working hard to ensure this becomes a reality”.
