The Letterkenny Amnesty group are holding a Picnic Against Apartheid in Letterkenny on Saturday 16 September outside an Grianan theatre at 2.30 pm.
Everyone is invited to come along.
The group says Palestinians are often forced out of public spaces by Israeli authorities, just because of who they are, and are not always allowed to enjoy simple everyday events.
Where Palestinian people can live, how and where they travel, access to food, farmland and water is all very deliberately controlled by the Israeli government.
Last year Amnesty published a report which described the system of oppression under which Palestinian people live as a form of apartheid. Our picnic is a very simple way of showing solidarity with the people of Palestine.
So bring your picnic and a blanket. Enjoy some music and Palestinian desserts. lListen to our speakers, including Majida Alaskery, originally from Palestine and living now in Buncrana and hear about what it is like to live under this system of apartheid.
