The Relay for Life Donegal community has expressed their grief over the passing of their dear friend and colleague Astrid McLaughlin.
Astrid McLaughlin (née McGrory) from Tooban, Burnfoot, passed away on Friday at Letterkenny University Hospital.
The beloved wife of Raymond and much loved mother of Barry, Karen and Lynn, she was a kind-hearted and thoughtful woman who cared for people deeply.
Astrid was a member of the Relay for Life Survivors Choir for many years.
In a tribute to her, they said: “Astrid’s been a choir member for many years, and her enthusiasm and friendship has epitomised the spirit of Relay, and the spirit of the choir. Astrid was always smiling, and if there was a birthday or event to be celebrated, Astrid was usually the first person to produce a cake and a card.
“We send our condolences to her entire family, and especially to her husband Raymond, who has also spent many years in the choir singing and playing guitar.
“The choir has lost another of its stalwarts, but along with the others who went before her, we are in no doubt that Astrid will continue to inspire and encourage the choir, and everyone involved with Relay for Life Donegal.”
Obituary details: Deeply regretted and will be forever missed by her loving husband, son, daughters, grandchildren, sister, brothers, her wider family circle, friends and neighbours.
