A fisherman was rushed to hospital today after becoming injured at sea.
The emergency incident took place 35 nautical miles off Malin Head shortly before midday.
Rescue services were dispatched immediatley to the man’s aid by Malin Head Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard Rescue 118 helicopter crew winched the casualty onboard and took him to Letterkenny Hospital for further treatment.
Lough Swilly RNLI and the RNLI unit of the Scottish Isle of Islay also assisted in the successful operation.
“Remember if you’re in difficulty in or on the water or see someone in trouble, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard,” said a spokesperson for Lough Swilly RNLI.
