The northern lights put on an incredible display over parts of Donegal last night, much to the delight of local photographers.

The aurora borealis was seen dancing in the sky, visible from West Donegal, Arranmore, the north coast and even inland parts of east Donegal.

The surprise display came from a moderate geomagnetic storm, but clear skies over Donegal made the perfect conditions for people to see the green and red colours.
