Participants of this year’s Cycle Against Suicide paused their journey today to honour motorcycle marshall Brendan O’Connell, who lost his life during the event in 2014.
Brendan O’Connell, a loving husband and father from Tralee, died in a tragic collision on the Barnesmore Gap outside Donegal Town.
He may be gone, but cyclists ensured he was not forgotten as they passed the scene of the accident.
The team dismounted at the roadside memorial to pay tribute to Brendan’s life.

The Cycle Against Suicide ‘Cycle of Hope’ to mark World Suicide Prevention Day took off from Mizen Head on Sunday. Over 75 cyclists journeyed 700km over six days to reach Malin Head.
The trip was full of many special moments, including the ‘Lighting of Lights’ on Sunday to honour those who have died through suicide, to offer hope to those suffering and to highlight suicide prevention in our communities.
