The Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital has announced they will be donating a vital new machine to the CRITICAL Emergency Medical Response (CEMR) volunteer service – formerly known as the Air Ambulance Service.
Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital responded to a call for funding from CEMR, with a donation of a €15,000 LUCAS automatic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation kit – equipment that can give automated CPR to a patient suffering a cardiac arrest before the ambulance service can arrive on the scene.
The new automated resuscitation machine donated by Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital.
CEMR provide an invaluable service in the community, responding to medical emergencies and providing care prior to the arrival of the National Ambulance Service.
Led locally in the county by Dr Gerry Lane, the CEMR service responded to 120 callouts in 2022 – including a mixture of cardiac arrests, trauma and other medical emergencies.
