Raphoe man appointed to board of mental health charity ‘spunout’

Well-known Raphoe man Garrett Harte has been pointed to the board of youth mental health charity spunout.

He is one of four new directors to bolster the organisation’s collective competence in the areas of healthcare management, public affairs & PR, project management, and digital transformation.

Garrett is the Director of Harte Media and former Editor-in-Chief of Newstalk

He is a communications and public affairs expert with over 20 years’ experience working with clients in Ireland and overseas. As the former Editor-in-Chief of Newstalk, he has shaped the national current affairs debate over many years.

Garrett is founder and Managing Director of Harte Media, a strategic communications agency working on media relations, reputation management, public affairs and corporate communications. He is a Senior Industry Advisor with the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and visiting Lecturer at the School of Communications with Dublin City University. Garrett delivers mentoring and coaching programmes with Skillnet Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices nationwide.

The son of Rosaleen Harte and the late Paddy Harte, Garrett is based in Wicklow but returns to Donegal regularly.

As a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, spunout is governed by a group of expert Non-Executive Directors who make strategic decisions and exercise oversight over the organisation’s governance. The Board brings together a wealth of experience from a range of fields, including law, finance, healthcare, strategy, digital and youth policy.

Tara Doyle, Chairperson of spunout said: “On behalf of the current Directors, our staff, volunteers, readers and texters; we warmly welcome our new Board Members to spunout, and look forward to working with them to achieve our strategic vision of an Ireland where all young people are empowered and supported to thrive.”

The other new board members include Dr. Gillian O’Brien, Danielle Martin and Sarah Jane O’Dwyer.
