A charity horseback trek in memory of beloved baby Aria Rose Wilkie-Barry has raised an incredible €27,597.
The grand total of the Aria’s Adventures Donegal to Dingle trek was revealed this week, with proceeds donated to Ronald McDonald House and Cian’s Kennels.
The money was raised over two weeks in August when Shane Barry, Aria Rose’s dad, and Letterkenny man John Doherty trekked 450km from Donegal to Kerry on horseback.
Along the way, they shared Aria Rose’s story and raised valuable awareness for two charities that supported her family last year.
Aria Rose Wilkie-Barry passed away peacefully in February, aged 16 months. She had spent almost her entire life in hospital, having been born prematurely with severe complex needs.
Aria Rose’s mum Tracey Wilkie is from Letterkenny and her dad Shane Barry is originally from Ballygawley.
The support that Tracey and Shane received from Ronald McDonald House and Cian’s Kennels during Aria Rose’s short life inspired them to give back in honour of her legacy.
Almost €14,000 was donated to each of the charities last week.
