The first promotional image of Donegal drama Cry From The Sea has been released.

Mamma Mia star Dominic Cooper and a young boy feature in the stunning coastal image unveiled by Cinema Management this week.

New details of the plot and the cast have also been confirmed.

Filming for ‘Cry From The Sea’ has been taking place across Inishowen in recent weeks. Malin Head provided a stunning seaside backdrop, while the village of Culdaff underwent a vintage transformation last week for indoor and outdoor scenes. See behind-the-scenes photos on DonegalDaily.com HERE.

The cast list boasts big names including Sarah Bolger (The Spiderwick Chronicles) and Sarah Gadon (A Dangerous Method). Also starring is Aidan Quinn (Legends of the Fall), Keith McErlean (Kin), David Pearse (The Banshees of Inisherin), Oisín Nolan (Cocaine Bear), Francis Harkin (Rian), and Caleb Mulligan.

The plot, as reported by Variety, follows Seamus Óg Mac Grianna (Cooper), an Irish lighthouse keeper who has created a life of isolation and ritual in penance for a tragedy he feels he should have prevented. Seamus’s only company is Maire (Bolger), his housekeeper and protector, who enables him to remain closed off from the world while quietly waiting for him to see her. His meticulously structured world begins to crack when he meets Edith (Gadon), an outspoken American war widow whose quest for closure ignites something in Seamus that will forever change them all.

The Irish-Canadian film is led by director Vic Sarin, written by Ciarán Creagh and co-produced by Sepia Films and ShinAwiL, with the support of the Donegal Film Office.

Cry from the Sea is set to wrap production in late October 2023. The project is supported by Telefilm Canada and Screen Ireland.
